18. HOKUSAI / Setta zori (Japanese traditional sandals) / silver
Nishijin Kyoto silk handmade setta zori (Japanese traditional sandals) with Mt. Fuji and Cherry Blossom’s small figure pattern.
The highest quality setta zori (Japanese traditional sandals) inspired by Katsushika Hokusai, Japanese “Ukiyoe” artist. Hokusai is best known as author of the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Alongside Mount Fuji, another symbol for the beauty of Japan that Hokusai loved would be Japanese cherry blossoms. Japanese traditional sandals called Setta have thongs that are put between the big toe and the other toes. We use 100% Nishijin Kyoto silk to thongs, strong bull leather to the sole. The sole is curved upward at the toes for comfortable walking. Experienced craftsman in Kyoto painstakingly makes each setta to provide highest quality item with luxury texture.
